Lab Tour and Reception

The lab tour and reception on Monday evening is at Frauenlobstr. 7A, 80337 Munich on the 3rd floor. This is 10 minutes walk from the conference venue and the close public transport stop is Sendlinger Tor. Light refreshments will be provided.

We invite all IS-EUD participants to join us for a lab tour and reception at the Media Informatics Group at LMU Munich.

This event offers the opportunity to visit our labs and learn more about the research and teaching activities that shape our work in HCI. Ongoing projects from our group will be presented, covering areas such as:

  • Novel Interaction Techniques
  • Virtual and Augmented Reality
  • Personalization and Adaptive Systems
  • Mobile and Ubiquitous Interaction
  • Privacy and Security
  • Physiological Computing
  • Human-Robot Interaction

During the reception, our researchers and students will present current projects, share findings, and discuss methods and tools: from hardware prototyping and virtual environments to robots and physiological data collection.

We look forward to lively conversations with colleagues from the HCI community and are excited to provide insights into our research environment and collaborations at LMU Munich.

Hotels

The conference venue is a busy part of Munich with many hotels around. The prices are typically between 75 and 150€ per night at the time of the conference.

Here are some suggestions:

Travelling to Munich

  • Munich main railway station is linked by long distance trains (international and national), by night trains, and by regional trains. See German rail for your connection (https://int.bahn.de/en)
  • Arriving by plane to Munich Airport (MUC) we recommend the S-Bahn (S1 or S8) or the Lufthansa Bus. All will stop at the main railway station and it takes about 40-60 minutes to get from the airport to the city. A single one way ticket from the airport to the city is 14,30€. For details and tickets see https://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/. There is also an APP (https://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/journey-planer/mobile-services/mvv-app/)
  • If you come by car, be aware that parking in the city is expensive (30€ or more per day). There are several parking garages close to the conference venue. The parking Sonnenhof-Garage Tiefgarage (Landwehrstraße 10, 80336 München) is just 2 minutes walk away. https://maps.app.goo.gl/uH6aHFkEeCtKGdN26

Public Transport

To get around in Munich we recommend public transport ( https://www.mvv-muenchen.de/en/ ). In most cases this is the fastest option. To get to the venue by public transport you can go by to:

  • Munich main railway station (München Hauptbahnhof / München Hbf) which is connected by Tram, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, regional trains, and long distance trains. From the station it is less than 10 minutes to walk to the venue.
  • U-Bahn Station Sendlinger Tor is well connected to the U-Bahn network and also a 10 minute walk to the venue.
  • A further option is Karlsplatz/Stachus (served by Tram, U-Bahn, and S-Bahn) which is also less than 10 minutes to walk.

Walking, Bikes, Scooters

Munich is a walkable city. There are many different companies offering bike sharing (e.g. Call a bike, https://www.callabike.de/en/home and MVV bikes https://www.mvg.de/ueber-die-mvg/unsere-fahrzeuge/mvg-rad.html) as well as e-scooters (e.g. Lime https://www.li.me/de-de/, Bold https://bolt.eu/de-de/scooters/, and Tier https://www.tier.app/en/) – all of these require apps for use.
